Firm Backs Bid to Raise Funds for Cancer Charity
A leading manufacturer of zero-leakage, high-performance isolation valve solutions has become the first company to purchase a limited edition Breast Cancer UK (BCUK) air compressor from leading compressor brand, Champion.
Champion donated £250 to BCUK for every FM7/CT/270 and FM11/CT/270 oil lubricated screw compressor sold to help raise vital funds for the leading charity. A total of 20 units, featuring two orange stripes down each side, replacing the familiar red and black Champion branding, as well as the BCUK logo, were produced.
MCE ValvTechnologies Europe purchased an FM11/CT/270 11kW unit in November, following a company expansion and move into an additional factory. The compressor, which was delivered the next month, was supplied by distributor Air Compressors and Blowers (ACB) North.
John Reilly, Materials Controller at MCE ValvTechnologies, said the team’s trust in both the Gardner Denver-owned brand and ACB, as well as a desire to ‘give something back’ to a good cause, had driven the decision to buy the Champion machine.
He explained: “When we opened an additional workshop down in Warrington, we needed a new and much smaller compressor. We knew from our previous experience with other Gardner Denver compressor brands that this machine would give us the reliability and flexibility we wanted. I also know that I am going to get the best service with ACB, having used them for a number of years.”
The new compressor needed to be compact, versatile enough to be used for a wide variety of applications and capable of extended running times.
John continued: “The compressed air from the system will be used when manufacturing our smaller valves, which require a lower pressure. It will also be used to test pressure rigs, for sandblasting cabinets and powering air-operated tools. As the compressor will most likely be running all day, we needed a technology that would deliver consistent, high-quality and energy efficient compressed air. The Champion compressor is ideally suited to meet this need. The fact that we felt we were giving something back because of the money that Champion donates to BCUK meant that this compressor was the perfect choice for us.”
Providing a reliable source of high-quality air in temperatures up to 46ºC, the BCUK-branded FM oil lubricated screw compressors offer a complete compressed air system, including receiver, dryer, filters, and drain.
Compact in design, with a footprint of 1.12m2, they are suitable for small businesses, such as workshops or repair centres, and offer a flow range of up to 56.15 CFM, and working pressure of 7, 8, 10 and 13 bar.
A JustGiving page was also set up by Champion brand owner, Gardner Denver. The charity’s mission is to prevent new cases of the disease through education, scientific research, collaboration and policy change.
